WePay Account Verification & Eligibility
Flocknote offers secure payment processing through WePay, Inc. by JPMorgan Chase so that you can request and receive payments from your members with peace of mind. This payment processing is backed by the world-renowned security of JPMorgan Chase and securely built into the friendly software by Flocknote that you already know and love. You are eligible for Fund It if you are a sole proprietor, business, or non-profit with an EIN number.
You can start requesting and receiving payments as soon as you’ve enabled Fund It and accepted the terms and conditions. However, to finalize Fund It and have access to your funds, you will need to complete Account Verification via WePay within 30 days.
To do this, you will be transferred to the WePay site to supply the legally-required information:
- Exact legal name of your church
- Year of formation of your church ( + church address & website)
- Employer Identification Number (EIN)
- Routing number & account number for your bank account
- Social security number
Once this is completed, please return back to your Flocknote account, refresh the page, visit My Dashboard and you’ll be off to the races! 🏎
Special Circumstances
Unincorporated — If your church is unincorporated, then you'll select the NonProfit option, but be sure to select Unincorporated Association as your legal structure. It is possible WePay may require more documentation as evidence of the validity of your church as an unincorporated association such as an IRS 501(c)(3) determination letter.
Diocese is incorporated and doing business as the church — For some Catholic churches, rather than the individual parish being the incorporated association, the Diocese is the legal entity and would be listed as DBA (doing business as) each specific church. In this case, you will verify your account as the Diocese and list the name of your church in the "DBA" spot. As you go through the steps, be sure to choose incorporated and (other than the DBA spot) fill out all fields with the Diocese information.
Extra Documentation required — During the Account Verification process, it's possible that you will need to upload additional documents confirming your identity as a controller (legal and fiscal representative of the nonprofit) or confirming your status as a nonprofit such as (IRS 501(c)(3) determination letter, Articles of Incorporation, Utility bills). If you have any questions about these documents, reach out to us at help@flocknote.com. Also, because Fund It payments are processed through WePay by JPMorgan Chase, you may receive emails from "Chase Integrated Payments".
Why does WePay need my social security number?
WePay is required by federal law via the Patriot Act to collect a U.S. Social Security Number before allowing any online transactions by Flocknote users. WePay operates under strict regulations by the U.S. Department of Treasury and the Internal Revenue Service. Flocknote does not have the ability to send funds online without first collecting such required information. WePay securely verifies the identity of each user of the WePay service in order to manage risk and comply with anti-money laundering laws. If you are an individual or sole proprietor, WePay will also use your SSN for any required tax reporting. If you are acting on behalf of a corporation or other organization with an Employer Identification Number (“EIN”), WePay will use the EIN for any required tax reporting instead. Even if you are acting on behalf of an entity with an EIN, WePay requires your SSN so that WePay can verify who you are and that you are authorized to act on behalf of the entity. All of the information you enter on WePay is kept safe by JP Morgan Chase's world-class security measures.
