Using Flocknote in Spanish-Speaking Communities

Can I use Spanish symbols on the note composers?
Yes, Flocknote's note composers (both email and text) support most languages, including those that are heavy in symbols. As long as you can type it, you can send it.
Will all my English notes be auto-translated to Spanish?
As it turns out, language is a complex thing and it's hard (even for computers) to auto-translate well. For this reason, the English notes you write will need to be translated on your end to Spanish. We recommend selecting a bilingual person at your church or on staff who can translate the notes for you accurately.
My church is bilingual; should I set up two different networks?
No, there is no need to set up two different networks for the same church, even if members speak different languages.
- For short and important messages, you can always include the English version at the top and the Spanish version right below it.
- For longer messages and for a more pleasant member experience, we recommend creating a specific group for the Spanish-speakers on the network. You may consider making a Spanish-speaking staff member/volunteer the Group Admin for this group so that they can be in charge of translating and sending out notes to that group. If you are short on time and staffing, it may not be necessary to translate everything -- simply focus on the most important messages and ensure those are sent in Spanish to be mindful and inclusive of these valued members.
How do I use Text-to-Join with these members?
The process for joining is exactly the same as for English-speaking members, but Spanish-speaking members will want to text a different number: 202-765-3441. Using this number ensures some of the automated return prompts, links at the bottom of all notes, and general navigations on the site are in Spanish. This does not auto-translate the notes you write in English and you'll need to do that manually.
Please note: While all the English keywords will still work with this number, you can also set up a specific group for Spanish communication and assign a specific keyword for this group. This way, you capture all those members in one group to know who to send Spanish content to. For more info on the text-to-join process as a whole, check out the articles at the bottom of the page.
