NEW! Two Factor Authentication (2FA)
At Flocknote, we take your safety and security very seriously. One way to make sure your account is super-secure is to enable Two Factor Authentication (2FA). This ensures that you are the only person who can log into your account by verifying your two pieces of contact information - email address and cell phone number. It's like needing two keys to unlock a digital door; even if someone gets one key, they still can't get into your Flocknote account without that second key 🔑
Just so you know, this login method also eliminates using passwords forever. Passwordless logins are the most secure option when logging in. 🔒
You can set this up for your account in a few quick steps: First, navigate to your profile and select the Account tab. Then, scroll down until you see Two-Factor Authentication, and click that button.
A menu will appear to begin the Two Factor Authentication (2FA) setup process! Be sure to read through the text to learn a bit more about 2FA. When you are ready to proceed, click the green Get Started button.
You'll start by verifying the contact info you have on file. In other words, we will send codes to your devices to confirm that they truly belong to you. The contact info you verify in this step will be used each time you log in going forward. (If by chance you need to update your contact info down the line, you'll need to complete the 2FA process again with the new contact info.)
Continue by clicking each green Verify button to have a code sent to that email or phone number.
Once you receive the unique code, enter it on the 2FA screen (see example below.) This will validate/confirm that this piece of contact information really belongs to you. If you do not receive a code within a few minutes, click Resend Code or email help@flocknote.com for assistance!
Repeat the verification steps for each piece of contact info listed. Notice that after the verification is complete, a green check mark will appear to the right of the contact info so that you know it's all set.
You're almost there! If you are part of multiple Flocknote networks, we'll let you know if 2FA will be enabled on those Flocknote networks as well or if your contact information needs to be updated there first.
For example, 2FA will also be turned on for Marcia Brady on St. Oscar IV and the Flocknote Community Network. 👍
However, Marcia has a different email (bestbrady@yahoo.com) on the Holy Cross Flocknote network than the one she verified earlier (bradyfamily@gmail.com). For this reason, 2FA will not be enabled for her login at Holy Cross Church.
If applicable, you may also see other networks you are a part of that already have 2FA switched on. Feel free to review this information and then click Enable 2FA.
Just like that 2FA, an extra secure way to log in, is enabled. 👏
How to log in using 2FA
2FA will slightly change the login process. Not to worry - you can log in securely in just a few minutes. Start by entering the email or phone number number you have on file in Flocknote.
- If you provide your email address, you'll begin by receiving a secure login code to your email.
- If you provide your cell phone number, you'll begin by receiving a secure login code as a text.
A code sent to your phone will look something like this:
A code sent to your email will look like this:
Grab the first 4-digit code and enter it on the login screen (see below.) These codes are only active for 5 minutes so please enter the code promptly!
Once that code has been accepted, a second unique code will be sent to your other piece of contact information. Notice that for security reasons your second piece of contact info is partially hidden. Lastly, go ahead and enter the second code on the login screen.
Congratulations! You've logged into your account using the most secure method, Two Factor Authentication. 🎉
